My Favorite Movie "Babel"

My favorite movie is "Bable" directed by a Mexican film producer, Alehandro Gonzalez Inarritu. This movie portrays three different groups of people in three different countries interconnected to each other by an event caused by a gun. The main theme in this movie is about language, as the title shows. This movie also shows the relationships between a family. Even if there is a common language that you can speak to each other, communication never goes perfectly well between family members. What I like about this movie is that it makes me aware that there are many different people living totally different lives in many different places all on at the same time. The three countries in this movie are totally different culturally, yet they are all happening in the same time and are interconnected to each other. There is a lot going on than you can see in your home environment. This is what I learned from this movie.

What is the most precious thing in my life?

The most precious thing in my life is my family. I feel this way because they are the ones closest to me in the whole world. I have been with them since I was a baby, and they are deeply related to my childhood and how I grew up. There were times when we had great experience together, and also times when we went through really tough situation together. The feeling of trust and closeness coming from this years of shared experience are the reason why I think my family is the most precious for me in my life.

What does it mean to be a "global citizen"

I think it requires you to have a several attributes to become a global citizen. First of all, I think you should be able to communicate through English to express your ideas. Second of all, I think it requires you to be open minded. That is to say, you need to be open to cultures different from yours and accept it. Thirdly, I think the most important out of all, is a mind to be able to position yourself in a world wide human community. It is hard to do this and often times it is necessary for you to voice your opinion from your home country’s position, however, it is also important to keep in mind that we are all part of the human race and we all share the responsibility for what we will build on to the human history. Those are the three attributes that I think is required for being a “global citizen”.

Who am I?

I am sand in the sea.
I am soil where trees grow upon.
I exist, but that is not for sure.
I will stop existing in the future, and that is for sure.
No one seeks any evidence. It is a belief.
I was composed to life and will be decomposed to end it.
By whom?
You may ask.
I do not know.
I do not find meaning in life.
Nor do I find meaning in searching for meaning in life.
A pleasant wind blows.
That is the reason why
I live my life.
I will go on
and on.

Do I like to write?

I really like writing about my own thoughts, for example writing diary, but I don't really like to write an academic paper. When I write just for my thoughts, it gives me pleasure, because verbalizing your own thoughts helps you to look back on yourself and helps you to understand yourself better. However, when you have to write an academic paper, it often requires you to do a lot of research and you can not really write your honest feelings. So whether I like writing or not depends on what type of writing it is.

Why did I decide to take this class?

I decided to take this class, because I wanted to think deeper about myself in order to understand myself more and know myself better. I have had a lot of rare experiences through out my life and I really want to look back to those memories and reconstruct my own personal history. By doing that I think I will be able to see my present self connected with the path that I have walked in the past self. In deciding my future careers and goals, I thought that taking this class could help me in doing this and that was my motivation for taking it.
